Springfield, IL-(Effingham Radio)- The Illinois Freedom Caucus is issuing the following statement on the passage of the Fiscal Year 2024 State Budget which every single Republican opposed.
“The $50 Billion Budget Behemoth speaks for itself. The Democrats are incapable of responsible budgeting. They refuse to consider the consequences and budget pressures they are creating with new spending line items. They refuse to demand any accountability from any government agency. And they refuse to include Republicans in any part of the budget process.
They are denying low-income families the opportunity to rescue their kids from failing schools by refusing to extend the Invest in Kids program. On the one hand, children are being deprived of the opportunity for a good education, and instead, we will be spending hundreds of millions of dollars to provide healthcare for people who are in our country illegally. Our kids can’t get help in the form of scholarships from private citizens, but state legislators get to help themselves to yet another raise.
The Democrats are patting themselves on the back for passing a so-called ‘balanced’ budget but in reality, this is just another bloated budget built on smoke and mirrors that will take us closer to fiscal insolvency. Recklessly spending money is not responsible no matter how many times the Democrats repeat the line. What is being done to our state is wrong. The Democrats may have a majority but there are still millions of Republican voters who have zero input in how their tax dollars are being spent. Illinois deserves better than the authoritarian, incompetents running our state.”
The Illinois Freedom Caucus is comprised of State Representatives Chris Miller (R-Oakland), chairman; Blaine Wilhour (R-Beecher City), vice-chairman; Adam Niemerg (R-Dieterich); Brad Halbrook (R-Shelbyville); Dan Caulkins (R-Decatur); Jed Davis (R-Newark) and David Friess (R-Red Bud). The members of the Illinois Freedom Caucus are members of the Illinois General Assembly who are advocating for limited government, lower taxes and accountability and integrity in government.
