Shelbyville, IL-(Effingham Radio)- State Representative Brad Halbrook (R-Shelbyville) said today in a capitol press conference that one way the majority party is making the state of Illinois worse is through excessive spending.
Halbrook told reporters that the last budget of former governor Bruce Rauner in 2018 was $38.5 billion. He then pointed to the fact that estimates for the upcoming state budget stand at $50 billion or more. Halbrook said there is no restraint when it comes to the state of Illinois spending.
Halbrook added that this spending doesn’t even hold a candle to the spending for undocumented immigrants.
One measure introduced by House Republicans was House Bill 2986 which would limit the growth of state spending to the rate of growth to the medium household income. But as Halbrook said, the bill never saw the light of day.
