Altamont Takes Down Vandalia 68-55, Gains 2nd Win Of Season

Altamont traveled to Vandalia Friday night and returned home with the Indians second win of the season,  by winning 68-55 over Vandalia.

A back and fourth opening quarter saw balanced scoring though out both squads, with 10 different players scoring at least one basket. It was Altamont who would gain the slight four point edge after the first eight minutes. Thanks in part to a pair of threes from Avery Jahraus. Altamont would lead 17-13 after one.

In the second quarter Altamont offense would bog down and Vandalia would take advantage and keep it close. But with a line change, five players in, five players out, in the last few minutes of the half seemed to turn things around  for the Indians. Jahraus would make another three and Keinon Eirhart would pour in six to help lead Altamont in front at the half 28-23.

In the third quarter Altamont would continue to play a great first few minutes right out of the locker room. For Vandalia Preston Nestrick and Tanner Robbins combined for 11 points to try and keep the Vandals in it.  Jared Hammer (with a big and 1), Wyatt Phillips (with a big three), and Eric Kollmann had good third quarter points and minutes  to further the Altamont lead 47-39 after three.

Altamont would post their best quarter of the game in the fourth.  With free throws and buckets from Eirhart and Mason Robinson to close out the game with Altamont a winner 68-55.

Altamont improves to 2-1 on the young season. Indians are back in action on Tuesday back in Altamont as they take on a good Newton Eagles squad.

Vandalia falls to 1-3 and take on South Central on Tuesday in their next game.
