Effingham, IL-(Effingham Radio)- Isolated severe thunderstorms are possible tonight, followed by a sharp drop in temperature.
According to the National Weather Service in Lincoln, a strong cold front is sweeping through the area this evening bringing with it scattered storms, some of which have the potential to be severe.
Damaging wind gusts and hail are possible.
Following the cold front, expect a sharp drop in temperatures.
Accompanied by northwest wind gusts up to 35mph, wind chills in the morning look to be in the low teens.
This could cause flash freezing of water on surfaces following the showers resulting in slippery roads and sidewalks.
Temperatures are expected to rebound quickly as a southerly flow brings temperatures back into the 50s by Friday.
