Cumberland Falls To 0-2 After 40-22 Loss To Tuscola

Cumberland kept fighting but in the end the Pirates ran out of gas and fell to Tuscola 44-22.

Cumberland moved the ball well on offense for the first half of the game. Tuscola didn’t score the first score of the game until 8.8 seconds left in the first half. Cumberland would respond with two scores in the third quarter to go up 14-7. Tuscola then scored twice after to take a 19-14 lead into the fourth quarter.

Cumberland scored first in the fourth quarter to take a 22-19 lead with 9:47 left in the game, this would be Cumberland’s final lead of the game and it didn’t last long, as Tuscola would score on the ensuing kickoff and never look back.

Both teams made plenty of mistakes with Cumberland having 4 interceptions and 3 fumbles, while Tuscola had 1 interception and 7 fumbles. Also both teams had plenty of penalties with Cumberland having 7 penalties for 45 yards and Tuscola had 6 penalties for 50 yards.

Cumberland will look to get their first win of the season next Friday when they host Sangamon Valley.
