Effingham, IL-(Effingham Radio)- On Monday December 20, 2021, George Martin, age 60, of rural Sigel, Illinois passed away at HSHS St. Anthony Hospital in Effingham, Illinois from injuries sustained when his semi was blown over during the tornados in rural Missouri on December 10, 2021. George Martin was on I-55 near Hayti, Missouri when his semi was blown over by the tornados.
George Martin sustained severe injuries and was transported to St. Francis Hospital in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. He was later released and went home. On Monday, he suffered a medical event due to his injuries and was transported to HSHS St. Anthony Hospital in Effingham, Illinois where he passed away at 11:33 am.
The Effingham County Coroner’s Office was contacted and responded to the emergency room. The investigation is continuing by the Effingham County Coroner’s office, the Missouri Highway Police and FEMA.
