National Guard Member Killed In Chicago Shooting

Chicago, IL -(Effingham Radio)- Loved ones are in mourning after a 19-year-old member of the National Guard was killed over the weekend in a shooting on Chicago’s Northwest Side.

Police say Chrys Carvajal was found lying unresponsive on a sidewalk with gunshot wounds early Saturday. He was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital. Carvajal joined the National Guard last year after graduating from Chicago Academy. He aspired to become a Chicago Police officer when he turned 21.

He was one of at least ten people killed in the city over the July 4th holiday weekend.
