
Effingham, IL -(Effingham Radio)- Effingham County Health Department announced six new positive cases of Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) from Tuesday, March 16 through Thursday, March 18. There were two cases on Tuesday, one on Wednesday, and three cases on Thursday. Positive case demographics are as follows:

With Governor Pritzker announcing the metrics for the “bridge” from Phase 4 to Phase 5 of reopening Illinois, the Effingham County Health Department can confirm over ten thousand doses of vaccine have been administered so far to Effingham County residents. Sixty-five percent of residents aged over 65 have received at least one dose, with thirty percent fully vaccinated. This number will increase further by the end of the week.
Illinois Region 6 rolling test positivity was 2% through March 15, while Effingham County was 1.5% for the same period.
