Chris Young was on hand when the new Chris Young Cafe on the campus of his alma mater, Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro, TN, was officially opened yesterday (Wednesday, Jan. 27th). The Tennessean reports that the 240-person venue was partially funded by Chris and gives students the opportunity to learn “first-hand skills in live music business and production.”
Chris also donated microphones, soundboards, amplifiers and more for students to practice. He told the newspaper, “Even if you've got a couple years' worth of effort in some road mics, they're still very much live and can be used. I thought that was a great way to repurpose (the gear) and put it somewhere people would get use out of it.”
The first song Chris played at the new venue was his latest single, “Famous Friends.”
