Washington, DC -(Effingham Radio)- Senator Ben Sasse says President Trump was apparently pleased when his supporters turned out in force at the U.S. Capitol on Wednesday.
In an interview with conservative talk show host Hugh Hewitt, Sasse cited senior White House officials as telling him Trump was “delighted” that rioters were breaking into the Capitol building. The Nebraska Republican said Trump watched the event unfold on television and seemed confused that staffers weren’t as excited as he was about what was happening.
At least five people, including a Capitol police officer, died as a result of the protests which Trump condemned a day later.
