Effingham, IL -(Effingham Radio)- A longtime Taco Bell favorite is coming to an end.
The Irvine-based fast-food chain announced this week it’s pulling the Mexican Pizza off the menu beginning November 5th. Parent company Yum! Brands says the move is being made because of a pledge it made earlier this year to be more eco-friendly. Packaging for the Mexican Pizza generates over seven-million pounds of paper waste per year.
The menu item that made its debut in the late ’80s features a layer of ground beef and re-fried beans between two tortillas topped with sauce, grated cheese and diced tomatoes.
