Springfield, IL -(Effingham Radio)- Illinois is ranked 49th worst in new home construction per-capita in a new study.
Researchers at Construction Coverage found Illinois near the bottom of the 50 states and the District of Columbia when ranked by new housing starts.
The state has only 17 new homes per ten thousand people, where the national average is 41.
The study also found that Illinois prioritizes building apartments and condos over traditional single-family homes.
