L-R Noon Club President Kaye Dent, Rotary Weekly Program Chairman Steve Seymour, Crisis Nursery Director Meghan Rewers, and Weekly Steudent Guest Luke Koester
EFFINGHAM, IL -(Effingham Radio)- When Meghan Rewers visited the Effngham Noon Rotary Club a couple of years ago, it was with a vision of establishing a Crisis Nursery in Effingham County.
The vision became a reality. Crisis Nursery of Effingham County is located at 924 North Merchant.
The short-term care center has served more than 150 children six and younger in its first year of operation.
Rewers, an Effingham County native, worked in a Crisis Nursery in Champaign while a student there, leading her to see the need for a nursery here.
She has worked to collect funding and has a group of 30-some volunteers who staff the nursery 24 hours a day, each day.
There is no specific reason for utilizing the nursery, other than needing a place where kids can be safe and cared for for a couple of hours.
Steve Seymour served as Rotary weekly program chairman.
The Rotary weekly student guest was Luke Koester, son of Clint and Stacy Koester and a senior at St. Anthony High School
