Effingham, Il (Via Charleston, Il) – This past Monday first responders were called to a home in Charleston to find a 2 year old unresponsive child in the residence.
After arriving on scene Charleston Pd, along with the Coles County Coroner confirmed the child to be deceased
Upon investigating the now death of the child, police spoke to the child’s mother 22 year-ols Savannah M Weiss.
She told police she had left the child in a pack & play unattended in over the past weekend.
It wasn’t until this past Monday that Weiss found her child to be unresponsive.
According to the autopsy report from the Coles County Coroner, the child died due to dehydration, and malnourishment.
Weiss is now being held in coles county safety, and detention while waiting for her first day in court.
Charleston Police is holding a press conference later today to discuss the future of this case.
