Effingham, IL-(Effingham Radio)- The rain and thunderstorms have moved through the area, and extreme heat will follow and continue through the weekend.
Afternoon heat index values 100-110° are forecast today through Sunday, though the extent of cloudiness and overnight/morning storms will determine how far north these hot conditions extend. However, the general trend will be for the storm track to move northward, and most of the region will see triple digit heat indices by Saturday.
Temperatures will be hot and humid through the weekend, with relief from the heat and active pattern by Monday.
