
Louisville, IL-(Effingham Radio)- The North Clay Community Unit School District Board met on May 20, with all members present and all items passing by a 7-0 vote.
Retirees Lori Parks, Chris Mellody, and Karen Williamson were honored for their decades of service. Junior High track athletes and achievers like Janelle Jordan, Jazey Keller, and Owen Jones received recognition for advancing to state competitions.
Parent Darla Worthy called for consistent use of the TeacherEase behavior tracking system and advocated for more positive student reporting. During the meeting, new field trips, teacher and staff appreciation initiatives, and recent academic highlights—including 39 graduating seniors and FFA student successes—were shared.
The district is also piloting environmental sensors in restrooms to monitor air quality and promote student safety.
Following review and updates, the board renewed its property insurance, approved handbook changes clarifying attendance and honor graduate rules, and scheduled a June 24 hearing for the amended budget. Staff changes included new hires and resignations:
- Hire John Frech for the high school co-athletic maintenance position
- Hire Adam Cox for the high school co-athletic maintenance position
- Hire Morgan Cox as High School Pep Club Co-Sponsor for the 2026-2027 school year
- Hire Carrie Kuhl as the High School Summer School 2026 Program Instructor
- Accept the letter of resignation of Malorie Craig as Junior High School 6th Grade Volleyball Coach
- Accept the letter of resignation of Brian Swope as Junior High School Track and Field Team Volunteer Assistant, effective immediately
- Hire Kim Harrison as 8th grade Volleyball Head Coach for the 2026-2027 school year
- Hire Michele Ruesken as 7th grade Volleyball (assistant coach) for the 2026-2027 school year
- Hire Kelly Stortzum as High School Boys Junior Varsity Basketball Coach for the 2026-2027 school year
- Hire Josie VanBlaricum as an elementary teacher for the 2026-2027 school year
- Accept the letter of resignation of Ethan Kuenstler as High School Boys FR/SO Basketball Coach, but retain as a volunteer coach for the 26-27 school year
- Accept the letter of resignation of Allie Krutsinger as Junior High School Cheer Coach, effective immediately
- Accept the letter of resignation of Allie Krutsinger as Freshman/Sophomore Volleyball Coach, effective immediately
