John J. Verdeyen, 67 of Neoga, Illinois passed away Friday April 3, 2026 at home surrounded by his family. He was born July 15, 1958 in Hialeah, Florida to John and Elvira (Hartke) Verdeyen. John spent the last 23 years with his special companion Robin Brewster.
John was a machine operator at John Boos and Co. for over 35 years. He loved playing his guitar, motorcycle riding, fishing, and camping with his family and friends. His greatest love in life was spending time with Robin and his family.
John is survived by his love, Robin Brewster; sons, Chad (Tiffany) Yingst, Jerome Verdeyen, Wesley (Karrigan Curtis) Verdeyen, Hunter Brewster and Christian Brewster; grandchildren, Cade, Chanie, Zoiee, Zayda, Zerenity, Teagan, Frances, Hunter, Jensen, Ryott, Nova, Avalene, Lexi, Haley, Maddy; great-grandchildren, Bella, River, Banks, Creed, Raylynn, Brentley, Renley, Remington, Slater, Ozzlyn, Marlese; sisters, Karen (Doug) Baur and Angela (Jason) Thompson; several nieces and nephews and step-mother Linda Verdeyen.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Paul Verdeyen.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to A.B.A.T.E. of Illinois.
Visitation will be held Friday April 10, 2026 from 4-7 pm in the Swengel – O’Dell Funeral Home in Neoga, Illinois. Cremation with private family service will be held at a later date.
