Joan E. Traub, 96, of Dieterich, Illinois, passed away at 10:04 AM – Wednesday, March 25, 2026, at HSHS Saint Anthony’s Memorial Hospital in Effingham, Illinois.
Private family services will be held at Saint John Lutheran Church south of Dieterich, Illinois, with Pastor Dean Herberts officiating. The burial will be in Saint Matthew’s Cemetery near Eberle, Illinois. In loving memory of Joan, memorials may be made to Saint John Lutheran Church, 22775 County Road 700 N, Dieterich, Illinois 62424. Arrangements are under the care of the Meyer Funeral Home in Dieterich, Illinois.
Joan was born on January 5, 1930, in Effingham County, Illinois, the daughter of Tony and Mamie (Kemme) Niendick. She married Wilton W. “Willie” Traub on May 10, 1964, and he preceded her in death on November 5, 2013. Joan helped her husband Willie farm for many years and worked at World Color Press for 30 years. She also worked at Martin’s IGA for 28 years. She was a hard worker.
Joan was a member of Saint John Lutheran Church.
Joan is survived by several nieces, nephews and host of friends
Joan was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers Paul and Glen Niendick and five sisters Irene Meyer, Pearl McSchooler, Marylou Ebbesen, Violet McCoy, and Mabel Niendick in infancy.
