Norma Louise Wells, age 88, of Greenup, Illinois, passed away at 4:45 PM – Tuesday, March 3, 2026, at her home.
Funeral services celebrating Norma’s life will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, March 9, 2026, at the Meyer Funeral Home Bishop Chapel in Greenup, Illinois. The burial will be in the Janesville Cemetery in Janesville, Illinois. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 PM Sunday, March 8, 2026, at the funeral home. In loving memory of Norma, memorials may be made to St Jude’s.
Norma was born on July 19, 1937, in Assumption, Illinois, the daughter of Henry and Viola (Stokes) Doll. She married Howard O. “Arkie” Wells on April 21, 1956, in Rockford, Illinois, and he preceded her in death on July 1, 2008.
Norma had worked at General Electric and retired from Lakeland College in 1999. Norma was a member of the Lakeland Church of Christ. She enjoyed gardening, painting, crafts and was the Scrabble champion of the family. The time spent with children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren was what she treasured. Norma is survived by her children Timothy (Paula) Wells of Salem, Indiana, Trisha (Ron) Atkins of Salida, Colorado and Cyndi (Travis) Green of Greenup, Illinois, grandchildren Matt (Alisha) Boruff, Ryan Wells, Evan Wells, Brock (Marissa) Shaw, Logan (Brian) Behrens, Jameson Stephens, Isaac Green (fiancé Megan Gerhardt), Mya Green, Tatum Tonn, Trista (Kendall) Cisney, Tyndall (Brad) Niebrugge, and Teal (Brandon) Niebrugge, several great grandchildren, brother Kenneth (Holly) Doll of Tacoma, Washington and bonus family friends Shelia (Tim) Laymon, Penny Huddlestun and Troy Green.
Norma was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter Joan Boruff, son-in-law Wayne “Red” Boruff, daugher-in-law Lisa Wells, grandchildren Emily Shaw, Leah Wells, Jessica Boruff, and Brad Boruff, siblings Henry “Wilb” Doll, Wayne Doll, Betty Pygott and Natalie Leander.
