Effingham, IL-(Effingham Radio)- Child drowning dangers are triggering the recall of thousands of above-ground swimming pools 48-inches tall or higher. They’re made by a company called Evajoy, based in China, and sold on Amazon.
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission says a compression strap that wraps around the outside of the pool, over the vertical support poles, can act as a foothold. That can allow a child to climb in even if the ladder has been removed. A free repair kit is being sent to owners but until it arrives, they’re being told to make sure kids can’t access the pool without supervision or to drain it completely.
