
Effingham, IL-(Effingham Radio)- Severe weather is likely today, and the risk level has been upgraded.
The severe weather outlook for today has been upgraded to level 3 (enhanced risk) across areas near and south of I-70. This area has the best chance of seeing tornadoes, some of which may strong. Be sure to review your severe weather safety plans, especially if you will not be in your normal shelter location (such as at work or school).
Widespread wind gusts 35-40 mph out of the west with isolated gusts to near 45 mph can be expected in central IL late tonight until early Friday afternoon. Use caution while driving, especially in high profile vehicles on west-east oriented roadways. Secure loose lightweight objects.
Temperatures will trend back to winterlike 30s and 40s for highs Friday into early next week. Wind chills look to dip to single digits at times Sunday and Monday.
