Barbara Ann Hanson, 91, of Newton, Illinois, passed away at 10:20 PM, Monday, February 16, 2026, at Helia Healthcare of Newton.
Graveside services will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, February 21, 2026, at the Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Newton, Illinois, with Reverend Amy Jeffries officiating. In loving memory of Barbara, memorials may be made to the Grace United Methodist Church or Sarah Bush Lincoln Hospice and can be mailed to the family at 18 Gregory Drive, Newton, Illinois 62448. Arrangements are under the care of Meyer Funeral Home in Newton, Illinois.
Barbara was born on May 10, 1934, in Newton, Illinois, the son of Earl and Blanche (Tabb) Wilson. She married Vernon Eugene Hanson on October 1, 1955, and he preceded her in death on July 21, 2010.
Barbara graduated from Newton Community High School with the class of 1952. Following high school she attended beauty school and for many years she owned Barbara’s Beauty Shop. Barbara was a member of Grace United Methodist Church. She enjoyed reading and spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren who knew her as GG. Grandma GG loved and treasured the time spent attending tea parties with her great grandchildren.
Barbara is survived by her children Earlene (Steve) Rubsam of Newton, Illinois, Gary (June) Hanson of Lake Lure, North Carolina and Donna J. (Chris) Keller of West Liberty, Illinois, grandchildren Rachel (Quinton) Dodd, Sarah (Jordan) Venema, Jill Hanson, Blake (Dana) Hanson, Dr. Eric (Dr. Alivia) Dallman, Rebecca Dallman, Hillary (Tyler) Rhodes and Ethan Keller (fiancé Zoe Diamond), great grandchildren Finley Venema, Jamie Hanson, Molly Hanson, Hadley Rhodes, William Keller, Rosslyn Schafer, Evelyn Schafer and sister Carolyn Dickey of Savoy, Illinois.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, husband and sister Nellie Wilson.
