Philip Layne Griffith, 58, of Hidalgo, Illinois, passed away at 9:43 AM, Wednesday, February 11, 2026. Funeral arrangements are pending at the Meyer Funeral Home – Bishop Chapel in Greenup, Illinois.
A service celebrating Philip’s life will held at 11:00 AM Saturday, February 28, 2026, at the Plainfield Church east of Rose Hill, Illinois, with Tom Matson officiating. A private burial will be in the Songer Cemetery south of Rose Hill, Illinois. Arrangements are under the care of the Meyer Funeral Home – Bishop Chapel in Greenup, Illinois. In loving memory of Philip, memorials may be made to the Meyer Funeral Home.
Philip was born on March 26, 1967, in Effingham, Illinois, the son of Glen Eugene and Ruth Frances (Chapman) Griffith. Philip worked in the oil field for many years and enjoyed fishing and helping others.
Philip is survived by his brother Jeffery Griffith of Rose Hill, Illinois
Philip was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Stephen Chapman, Lynn Griffith, Bradley Griffith and Larry Griffith.
