Effingham, IL-(Effingham Radio)- Effingham City Council is exploring ways to fund a major update to the city’s wastewater treatment plant, with costs potentially reaching $20 million. A key focus is reducing phosphorus levels as required by environmental regulations. Director of Public Works Jeremy Heuerman outlined options, including long-term bonds that may take up to 30 years to pay off.
In additional action, the Council approved a new storage building at Community Park and accepted a bid for box culvert replacement on Evergreen Avenue.
