Effingham, IL-(Effingham Radio)- The 377 Board met for their regular meeting Wednesday, but did not have a quorum. Due to lack of quorum, no actions could be taken, and the approval of the August meeting minutes was moved to the next meeting.
Board members in attendance went over the updated numbers for the fiscal year, which showed that 36 individuals were helped through the 377 program with Community Support Systems (CSS). Total funds received were around $20k more than what was spent this fiscal year so far.
The Board then shared the story of Riley.
“Riley (pictured above) is a graduate of Dieterich High School. She began attending the CSS Community Day Services program in January 2025, with funding made possible by Effingham County 377 funds.
After working for a short time, Riley expressed interest in community employment and began working with a job coach. She loves animals, and her dream job is to work as a veterinary technician at a veterinarian’s office.
To help prepare her for working in the community, Riley recently joined the Supported Employment Program, where she works on a janitorial crew cleaning local businesses alongside two peers under the supervision of a staff member.
Riley currently works two days a week at Community Day Services (CDS) and two days on the crew. She says she loves working on the crew but also enjoys her days at CDS when she can see her friends.”
