Dieterich, IL-(Effingham Radio)- A freight train collided with a red farm tractor hauling a disc on the Section Street railroad crossing in Dieterich on Saturday, causing a temporary disruption, but no injuries.
The incident happened around 12:30pm when the tractor stalled while attempting to cross the tracks. The driver of the tractor, 17 year old Owen D. Lynch of West Salem, managed to escape with no injuries.
Emergency crews responded quickly to the site and cleared the crossing by 5:30pm. Authorities said that a local towing company removed the tractor and disc from the tracks.
