Effingham, IL-(Effingham Radio)- The Supreme Court is halting President Trump’s plan to deploy National Guard troops to Chicago. The White House claimed the troops were needed to protect ICE agents as they conduct immigration operations.
The Trump administration also argued civilian law enforcement is the same as “regular forces,” and the Constitution says “regular forces” can be used against a rebellion, or in other instances. Three of the six conservative justices dissented in the opinion. This only affects Chicago, but legal experts say it may create pushback for National Guard deployments in other cities.
