Washington, DC-(Effingham Radio)- Home prices are rising slower than the rate of inflation for the fourth straight month. The latest S&P Case-Shiller National Home Price Index posted a one-point-three percent annual gain for September which is down slightly from the previous month.
September’s CPI came in one-point-seven percent above housing appreciation. All 20 metro areas recorded monthly declines as high mortgage rates keep many homes buyers on the sidelines. Chicago, New York and Boston enjoyed the largest annual gains. Tampa posted the sharpest drop in home price growth.
