Washington, DC-(Effingham Radio)-The White House says it’s complying with court orders regarding SNAP benefits despite President Trump’s social media post stating funding would not be used until the government is back open.
Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt clarified a Truth Social post made by President Trump this morning saying the benefits wouldn’t be paid until Democrats reopen the government. She said the president was referring to not wanting to tap into an emergency fund any further to pay SNAP benefits.
Funding for the food assistance program ran out Saturday. About 42-million Americans receive SNAP benefits.
