Mattoon, IL-(Effingham Radio)- The Lake Land College Broadcasting Club is holding its 19th annual food drive to support the Lake Land College food pantry.
The club is accepting non-perishable food donations now through November 30. All individually packaged, non-perishable food items are accepted, with priority items including spices, seasonings, canned meats and pastas.
Boxes are located around campus in the Luther Student Center, the Northwest Building, the Library and the West Building for people to drop off their donations.
All donations will be given to the Lake Land College food pantry to help in its mission of combating food insecurity among students and their families. Located in the Luther Student Center, the Lake Land College food pantry provides students with free food available for pickup or delivery.
The Lake Land College Broadcasting Club food drive is a part of the second annual Illinois Community College Board (ICCB) food drive, a friendly, state-wide competition among all Illinois community colleges to collect donations for local food banks. Last year, more than 91,000 total food items were donated throughout Illinois as a part of this initiative.
