Lake Sara, IL-(Effingham Radio)- The Effingham Water Authority has released new guidelines for disposing of leaves and landscape waste at Lake Sara.
Residents are allowed to burn yard waste between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM, except on Sundays. All fires must be fully extinguished outside of these hours and supervised at all times, with smoldering strongly prohibited. In an effort to protect water quality, the authority emphasizes that blowing leaves into Lake Sara is not allowed under any circumstances. Violators face citations and fines.
These measures aim to keep both the community and the lake’s ecosystem safe.
