Effingham, IL-(Effingham Radio)- The Effingham Transportation Committee met on Wednesday and heard updates from Effingham County Public Transportation (ECPT), CSS, and PCOM.
ECPT reported that they are still looking for two more full-time drivers, and that they are looking to expand their routes to south of the tracks in Effingham. The move may happen as early as next spring. ECPT also announced that they have receives a $600k grant from the Rebuild Illinois program for transit projects. They also said the grant for the maintenance facility is still in progress.
The committee then discussed a situation involving Shelby County PCOM and IDOT. Shelby County PCOM is requesting access to the transportation schedules that ECPT is using, which would include personal information on local residents. ECP?T expressed concerns about unrestricted access to the info, but IDOT has already said they do not see a problem giving access. The committee will look at possible HIPPA compliance issues as a way to possibly deny complete access, and a motion was made to limit access to Shelby County info only. The motion was passed.
As for Effingham County PCOM, they announced that they should be able to get rid of their excess vehicle by next month.
