
Effingham, IL-(Effingham Radio)- Effingham County Board’s Tax and Finance Committee is moving forward with a recommendation to award $15,000 in funding to the Effingham Regional Growth Alliance. Courtney Yockey highlighted the Alliance’s recent achievements and reminded members that County Board Chairman Josh Douthit holds an ex-officio seat on the Alliance Board.
Additionally, the committee agreed to provide $1,000 to the Ham City Fall Fest, which features a downtown 5K, brunch, and family-friendly activities. Organizers hope to draw visitors from a 50-mile radius.
There was also discussion about how to allocate hotel/motel funds. The Committee agreed to have 85% of available funds ready to use, with the remaining 15% kept in the fund.
In financial news, employee health insurance stipends will rise just 4%, with the county covering the increase.
