Effingham, IL-(Effingham Radio)- Chrysler parent company Stellantis is recalling over 91-thousand Jeep Grand Cherokee hybrids in the U.S. due to a software malfunction.
The NHTSA noted that some Jeep Grand Cherokee Plug-In Hybrid electric vehicles from 2022 to 2026 may have an overloading of the battery pack control module microprocessor causing it to reset. When this happens, the hybrid control processor can misinterpret signals from the battery pack control module, possibly resulting in the loss of drive power.
The NHTSA says the unexpected loss of propulsion can cause a car crash without prior warning. The NHTSA website says of the over 91-thousand possibly affected vehicles only one-percent of them are believed to have the defect.
