Louisville, IL-(Effingham Radio)- The North Clay Board of Education convened Wednesday at 5:00 p.m. at the unit office in Louisville, with five of seven members present at roll call. New staff for the 2025-26 school year were introduced, spanning roles from teaching to bus driving and technology. The board highlighted recent school events, including a well-attended Open House, Pre-K preview, and upcoming student activities like Fall Pictures and bus drills.
Superintendent Keith Price presented the FY26 tentative budget, explaining a $31,533 increase in state funding, offset by declines in federal grants and rising expenses in insurance, staff salaries, and special education costs. The tentative budget will be available for public review for 30 days before a September 24 hearing. The board also discussed a partnership with the North Clay Park District regarding baseball field ownership and responsibilities.
Three new school buses were approved for purchase, with the state set to reimburse part of the cost. In closed session, members accepted a custodian’s resignation, approved new hires, and granted family leave. All meeting actions were approved unanimously before adjournment at 7:45pm.
