Effingham, IL-(Effingham Radio)- The FDA is warning the public to avoid consuming certain Great Value raw frozen shrimp sold at Walmart.
According to a statement from the FDA, the advisory comes after Customs and Border Protection alerted the agency about possible Cesium-137 contamination, a radioactive isotope, from shipping containers. Frozen shrimp from the distributor, Indonesia’s BMS Foods, has tested positive, but the FDA says no shrimp that has tested positive has entered the U.S. food supply.
The FDA said it is working with distributors and retailers that received the shrimp from BMS Foods “to recommend that firms conduct a recall.”
