We post trending scams on our page from time to time. There are so many, we can never post all of them, but this one caught my attention because I received this email, and I almost opened the attachment. I’m a little ashamed I came so close to falling for this, when I should really know better, but, I had just celebrated a birthday, and I’m getting closer to retirement age. I think this shows we all have to be vigilant, all the time.
Never trust unsolicited correspondence, and NEVER open an attachment from a sender you are not familiar with. It should have tipped me off right away that the address of this sender, who claims to be from a government organization, had an address that ends in .org. Never trust a site claiming to be from the government that does not end in .gov.
These scams are relentless. Stay vigilant, stay informed, and lets work to look out for one another.
