
Teutopolis, IL-(Effingham Radio)- At the Teutopolis Unit 50 Board of Education meeting on July 21, members continued their comprehensive review of district facility needs, evaluating how long-term planning and financial strategies can support student success.
The Board heard from Craig Williams of Journey 12 communications, exploring options for more effective two-way engagement with families and stakeholders. The Board approved the Treasurer’s Report, payment of bills, and consent agenda items, including minutes from the prior meeting, reestablishment of revolving and athletic officials accounts, and the selection of Teutopolis State Bank and First National Bank of Dieterich as district depositories.
Reporting updates covered summer facility projects, preparations for the 2025-26 academic year, and an update from the Illinois School for Advanced Leadership. No new items were discussed under new business. The Board accepted the resignations of Dan Niemerg, THS Scholar Bowl sponsor, and Jessica Schackmann, TGS teacher. New hires for the upcoming year, contingent upon final background checks and compliance, include Colbert ‘Page’ Howell as Band Director, Rachel Buening as TGS Teacher, along with Samantha Will and Sarah Schabbing as TGS Student Council Co-Sponsors, Ivy Schmidt as Choir Sponsor, Nick Hartke as Assistant Volleyball Coach, Sarah Mitchell as Girls Golf Volunteer, and four staff members to split the THS Girls Tennis stipend for 2025-26. Additionally, a memorandum created new paid assistant coaching roles for high school golf and volleyball for one year.
The Board’s next scheduled meeting is August 11 at 6 p.m.
