
Effingham, IL-(Effingham Radio)- There are reports of a possible fireball shooting across the sky in the Southeast. Videos shared on social media show the bright object burning as it fell from the sky. Hundreds of people have said they saw the object shoot across the sky or heard it above them.
The American Meteor Society is calling it a “bolide” [[ bo-lide ]] — an “exceptionally bright meteor” that can be accompanied by a sonic boom. It happened not long before 12:30 p.m. Eastern with sighting reports coming from Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee.
Officials in Henry County, Georgia said they are looking into a report about a possible piece of meteorite that pierced through the roof of a home.
