
Effingham, IL-(Effingham Radio)- The Effingham City Council held their regular meeting Tuesday and discussed numerous items.
City Administrator Steve Miller announced that Russ Leppin was awarded Employee of the Quarter.

Ben Beckman was also recognized with a Customer Service Citation for going above and beyond when helping a customer.
The City Council also approved a downtown/southtown business area redevelopment program agreement for The Office Pub downtown for $3,525. They also agreed to purchase the former Hodgson Mill property along the interstate.
Near the end of the meeting, the Council heard from Police Chief Jason McFarland who said he will be retiring at the end of the month. McFarland said this will be his last meeting as Chief, as Deputy Chief Kurt Davis will take over when he retires.
McFarland thanked the Council for providing him the opportunity to serve as Police Chief.
