Effingham, IL-(Effingham Radio)- More storms move through the area today, and they could be severe.
Showers and storms will continue today into tonight with some of the storms being strong to severe this afternoon, with damaging winds possible. Scattered showers and storms will continue Thursday and Friday with locally heavy rainfall possible. Dry weather is expected Sat, but the chance for more showers and storms will return Sunday.
According the Illinois EPA, some of the persistent wildfire smoke will be drawn toward the surface today, behind a cold front. This will be most impactful across the northern third of Illinois, including areas around Galesburg and Peoria, where air quality is forecast to be in the orange category (unhealthy for sensitive groups).

If you have sensitivities to air quality, try to limit prolonged or heavy outdoor exertion.
