Effingham, IL-(Effingham Radio)- Delaine Donaldson of the Effingham County Cultural Center & Museum stopped by the studio to explain the history of Ewington, which is now remembered through the local DAR and the Ewington Cemetery. It may only be a cemetery now, but back in the early 1800’s, it was a vibrant community just up the road from the old state capitol, Vandalia.
You can listen to the interview below.
Thanks to Delaine Donaldson for sharing the history of Ewington, and how much history it has in the local community. Local history can be hard to fin at times, but it makes the discovery of local history that much more special when it is revealed.
You can find more information on the museum and learn more about the County’s history at effinghamcountymuseum.org.
This is part of a monthly series of interviews that will continue next month.
