
Louisville, IL-(Effingham Radio)- The North Clay School Board met on May 22 for their regular monthly meeting.
- Call to Order; Roll Call and Pledge of Allegiance at 7:00PM. Board members present were: Ryan Ballard, Aaron Kincaid, Ashley Brooks, Barry Adair, Jason Griffy and Kim Smith. Absent: Anthony Dawkins. Others present were Superintendent Keith Price, Elementary and Junior High School Principal Ben Borries, High School Principal Sarah Newby and District Athletic Director/Assistant Principal Richard Grubaugh.

● April 25th – JH Dance – beautiful event with wonderful people
● April 28th – 3rd – 5th Enrichment and Mrs. Akers went to Bedford, IN – Caverns.
● April 30th – Kindergarten Orientation a success – Total of 27 families attended.
● May – Jr. Deputies – 2nd Grade Kaydence Walters, Josie Zink 3rd Grade Willow White Hoke, Lauren Newby, and Clayton Schilling, 4th Grade – Piper Stone and Remi McGee
● May 1st – JH Sports Awards
● May 2nd – Zoo – Lions were ferocious
● May 5th – 9th American Educators Week – we celebrated with many meals, goods, and gifts from the district, PTO, and Donors.
● May 6th – PTO Family Night with Inflatables, Food Trucks, and a Petting Zoo.
● May 9th – 1st Grade to St. Louis Aquarium – It was pretty fluid.

North Clay High School Positive News
● NCHS Graduation was held on May 18th.
● North Clay Industrial Arts Department was contacted on May 3rd from Southern Illinois Builders Association, O’Fallon Illinois, that we were selected to receive a $500 grant for tools and material
● Industrial Arts Department was selected to be the recipient of a $500 donation from Poettker Construction for tools and supplies
● Students in the Construction Class are successfully completing a new unit on drywall finishing and plumbing installation
● 16 students attended the Educators for Tomorrow Summit. Students listened to a keynote speaker and were able to attend breakout sessions.
● 19 FCCLA members went to the Ronald McDonald house in Evansville to deliver almost 400 lbs of pop tabs that were collected over the school year Pre-K-12.
Extra-Curricular Activities Positive News
● Brooke Koelm signed with LakeLand College for Cross Country
● Brooke Koelm advanced to IHSA State Track Meet in 3200m Run
● Mason Byers advanced to IHSA State Track Meet in 400m Run
● Cooper Lewis (8th-Discus), Owen Jones (7th-110m Hurdles), Ali Boose/Karissa Browning/Bradessa Scott/ Alayna Steele (8th-4×100 Relay) advanced to the IESA 2A State Track Meet
● HS Baseball plays Saturday at S. Central for regional championship 1:00pm
- Consider to approve renewal of insurance policy with the Illinois Counties Risk Management Trust Jacob Janssen and Ted Whitehead were present to present the proposal for the renewal of the district insurance policy. It was explained that the overall insurance premium increased by about $28,000. This is primarily due to the addition of new buildings due to the construction project, which is now complete. Approved 7-0
- Consider to approve Tentative Amended Budget and Set an Amended Budget Hearing Date for Wednesday, June 25, 2025, at 4:45pm. Approved 7-0
- Consider second reading of recommended revisions and additions to the 2025-2026 student handbooks Approved 7-0
- Consider approval of the District Consolidated Plan: Superintendent Keith Price explained that the Consolidated District Plan is an annual requirement by
the State Board of Education that requires school districts to articulate their plans for providing equitable access to grant funded resources each year. Approved 7-0 - Consider to approve athletic coop agreement with Clay City Approved 6-1

The Board of Education met in closed session from 7:41PM to 8:31PM.
The Board of Education entered into open session at 8:31PM.
Upon returning from closed session, the following motions were made:
- Hire Kim Adair as 8th Grade (Head Coach) Girls Basketball Coach for the 25-26 school year. Approved 7-0
- Hire Sam Erwin as 7th Grade Boys Basketball Coach for the 25-26 school year. Approved 7-0
- Hire Chloe Lewis as High School Girls Assistant Basketball coach for the 25-26 school year. Approved 7-0
- Approve Chloe Lewis as High School Volleyball Volunteer Assistant Coach for the 25-26 school year. Approved 7-0
- Hire Allison Czyzewski as Junior High School Assistant Girls Basketball Coach for the 25-26 school year. Approved 7-0
- Hire Chris Smith as full-time custodian, effective immediately. Approved 7-0
- Accept letter of resignation of Roy Taylor as High school boys assistant coach and retain as a volunteer coach, effective immediately. Approved 7-0
- Accept the letter of resignation of Maddie Craig as Junior High School Volleyball Head Coach, effective immediately. Approved 7-0
- Accept the letter of resignation of Jill Johnson as volunteer cheer coach, effective immediately.
- Post for the position of 200 custodial hours. Approved 7-0

- Increase the 2025-2026 bus driver hourly pay to a range of $22 to $34 per hour, based upon experience and performance. Approved 7-0
- Provide administration permission to hire non-certified staff, as needed. Approved 7-0

Committee Reports / Superintendent Report
- The building and grounds committee reported that summer projects are being coordinated with Poettker Construction to include additional items as part of the Phase 2 construction project. The district is waiting on more specific budget numbers from Poettker Construction. Superintendent Price provided an update on the exploration of district health insurance offerings and a status update on the Egyptian Trust, which currently provides our district health insurance benefits.
