Washington, DC-(Effingham Radio)- The White House is “actively looking at” possibly suspending the writ of habeas corpus. That’s what Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller said when asked about President Trump considering the idea as a way to deal with illegal immigration.
The writ of habeas corpus allows for a person’s detention by the government to be challenged. Miller went on to note the Constitution is clear “that the privilege of writ of habeas corpus can be suspended in time of invasion.” The Trump administration has been at odds with some judges who have blocked certain deportations.
