Effingham, IL-(Effingham Radio)- American cardinals who took part in the conclave are weighing in on the election of the first American pope.
Speaking at the Pontifical North American College, New York Cardinal Timothy Dolan said he didn’t think it had anything to do with President Trump, adding that they look to Pope Leo the 14th as a bridge builder. Archbishop of Newark Joseph Tobin said he had no shortlist and stressed that the most important thing to do during the conclave was listen. Cardinal Wilton Gregory of Washington D.C. said they looked for someone who could bring them together. Seven of the nine cardinal electors from the U.S. spoke at the news conference.
