
Teutopolis, IL-(Effingham Radio)- The Teutopolis Board of Education held their regular meeting on Monday at 6pm.
- The Board approved the Treasurer’s Reports and the Payment of Bills as presented.
- The Board approved the Consent Agenda Items as follows: Approval of Minutes from March 17 Regular Meeting; Approved Technology Department Software Renewals, Hardware Purchases, and authorization for Erate Purchases and Summer Projects; Approval of Response to Intervention Software Renewal for 2025-28; and Approval of Student Teachers for 2025-26 (Art and Speech Language Pathology).
- The Board accepted a proposal from Midwest Transit Equipment for the purchase of a used 2021 School Bus and directed the Transportation Director to secure a used driver education van, and hereby authorize the superintendent to release as surplus property the vehicles they are replacing.
- The Board accepted the recommendations of the Handbook Committee and Principals, and hereby authorized the Superintendent to make board policy compliant changes to the handbooks and establish fees as discussed for the 2025-26 academic year. Registration Fees remain unchanged – TGS $75, TJHS $81, THS $105. Lunch Pricing will experience a minimal $.05-.10 increase – TGS $2.85, TJHS $3.00, THS $3.10, Adult $3.60, Milk $.40, Alacarte $.80
- The Board approved the Mutual Aid Assistance and Facility Use Intergovernmental Agreement with the City of Effingham in the event of an emergency, with review to occur annually, and retained its right to restrict or minimize use in order to minimize disruption to Unit 50 and its operations.

1. Summer Maintenance Department Projects - Update on Facility Prioritization, Timeline and Funding Options
a. Following last month’s Board directive, the district architect has begun spec drawings for a possible TJHS expansion. Both a 2 classroom and a 3 classroom/1
restroom option will be prepared for Board consideration. Construction could occur in 2026 to accommodate the movement of 6th grade to TJHS, and is anticipated in the 2026-27 academic year. This movement would create needed space in the Grade School.
b. The Superintendent has scheduled presentations for the Board regarding future funding options. These informational sessions are intended to assist the Board
with possible borrowing needs for future facility modernization and infrastructure work at Teutopolis Grade School. Work already approved for completion at THS Cafeteria in 2025, and the anticipated TJHS 6th grade expansion work in 2026, with both to be paid for utilizing district reserves – a testament to the Board’s
pursuit of financial stewardship and future planning.

- The Board expelled a student through the 2025-26 academic year. The expulsion will be held in abeyance if the student successfully completes an educational program approved by the District.
- The Board accepted the irrevocable letters of resignation from Ian Brink – TGS Custodian effective 3-28-2025, Hannah Apple – TGS Music and Katie Jurgens – District Librarian both effective at the end of the 2024-25 academic year.
- The Board assigned/approved the hire of the following for 2025-26 contingent upon their successful completion of background investigation, employment history review and verification/completion of necessary licensure for the position: Kelli Wells – Approval of reassignment to District Librarian; Samantha Will – Approval of reassignment to 5th Grade Teacher; Graci Meinhart – TGS-TJHS Student Services Coordinator; Julie Wilder – TGS 3rd Grade Teacher; Alli Brumleve – TGS 6th Grade Teacher and TJHS Softball Coach; Wittni Deters – TGS Paraprofessional; High School DO Workers at TGS
- The Board adopted a resolution to extend the principal’s contract of Tanner Lawson and Sherry Hoehn through the 2027-28 academic year.
- The Board approved the recommendation for THS Officials Pay for 2025-26 as presented.
The next Regular Meeting is scheduled for Monday, May 12, 2025 at 6pm.
