Effingham, IL-(Effingham Radio)- There is a chance for freezing rain tonight and tomorrow morning as rainy weather comes up from the south.
Light freezing rain will develop across south-central Illinois early Wednesday morning, then will spread northward to the I-74 corridor toward midday. As temperatures slowly nudge above freezing, areas south of I-74 will transition to rain during the afternoon. While ice accumulations will remain at one tenth of an inch or less, slippery conditions are expected…especially on untreated roadways as well as bridges and overpasses. The morning commute will potentially be impacted for locations along and south of a Jacksonville to Danville line…while the evening commute will be impacted for areas further north.
After a period of cool and dry weather Thursday and Friday, another storm system will spread wintry precipitation into central Illinois Friday night into Saturday morning before most of the precipitation transitions to rain by Saturday afternoon.
