Teutopolis Board Of Education Meeting Held Monday

Teutopolis, IL-(Effingham Radio)- The Teutopolis Board of Education held their regular meeting Monday.

Items discussed:

1. The Board approved the Treasurer’s Reports and the Payment of Bills as presented. 2. The Board approved the Consent Agenda Items as follows: Approval of Minutes from April 15 Regular Meeting; Renewed IASB Membership for 2024-25; Approved First Reading of Board Policies Update 114; Approve Enrollment Request per ISBE Waiver for 2024-25; Approved Field Trip Request for FFA to Springfield; and Approved an RFP for Updating Building Asbestos Management Plans. 
2. The Board approved the FY2024 Tentative Budget, placing it on display for not less than 30 days, and established an amended budget hearing for Monday, June 17 at 6pm with the regular meeting to immediately follow. 
3. The Board accepted the lowest responsible bid from Wohltman Construction for work to be performed as described in the Base Bid for water/sewer Line work at the TGS Fine Arts Building. 
4. The Board accepted the state contract with South Bus and Mobility for purchase of an activity bus. authorizing the superintendent to release as surplus property the equipment it is replacing. 
5. Presentation of Reports included: 

• Building Updates – Principals and Activities & Athletics Director 
• Superintendent Update – Eastern Illinois Area Special Education Bonds; Effingham County Sheriff School Resource Office Cost Increase 

7. New Business: Board Discussion – No items were discussed. 
8. The Board accepted the resignation and/or letter of intent to retirement notices from Amy Nice – THS PE/Driver Ed; Derrick Gaddis – THS Bass Fishing; Elizabeth King – THS English; Carla Jansen – Retirement – TGS 2nd Grade; Marla Pilcher – Retirement – THS Paraprofessional; Kayleah Ambuehl – THS Secretary; Karen Smith – TJHS Scholar Bowl Asst; Angie Hotze Resignation as of May 2. 
9. The Board assigned/approved the hire of the following for 2024-25 contingent upon their successful completion of background investigation, employment history review and verification/completion of necessary licensure for the position: TGS 1st Grade – Rochelle Repking; TGS 2nd Grade – Brianna Waldhoff; TGS Paraprofessional – Ashley Martin; TGS Paraprofessional – Tara Niemerg; THS English – Shawna Bloemer; Bass Fishing Boat Captains (IHSA Requirement) – Rod Brumleve, Lance Dasenbrock and Ted Deters.
