Effingham, IL-(Effingham Radio)- A project 15 years in the making could be finally coming to fruition.
The Effingham Airport is hoping to get bids finalized for a runway extension. The extension will bring the primary runway to 6,000 feet, and extend a taxiway to run parallel along with the runway extension. The project is funded through the Rebuild Illinois Capital Plan, funding 90% up to $5 million, with 10% of funding coming locally.
Reconstruction of Airport Road is also needed. That construction could start in the next couple months.
