Springfield, IL-(Effingham Radio)- A trial is set to begin next month for a man accused of killing an Illinois child welfare worker at a home outside Springfield last year. Benjamin Reed is charged with the murder of Deidre Silas in January 2022.
Authorities say Reed allegedly stabbed Silas to death while she was checking on six children in a home in Thayer. She worked as an investigator for the Illinois DCFS. Reed’s trial will start January 8th.
